Thank you for your interest in our work. There are many opportunities to work with EJP. Every fall and spring we accept applications for tutors, course instructors, workshop facilitators, and ESL instructors (Language Partners). You can also apply to become involved in FACE (Family and Communities Engagement), which works with the family members of our incarcerated students, work with our new computer lab at the prison, or participate with EJP’s new radio program as an air-shifter or producer.
Applications are now closed for Fall 2013. The next application deadline will be October 1, 2013 for Spring 2014.
You must hold a Bachelor’s degree to teach for EJP at the prison in any capacity. Course instructors must have the same qualifications that would be necessary to teach a given course on the Urbana-Champaign campus. In most cases, that is a terminal degree or ABD status. EJP teachers must also be able to demonstrate maturity of purpose. All EJP positions are unpaid.
FACE members must have a bachelor’s degree.
If you are an undergraduate student who is interested in issues of incarceration and would like to support our work, please consider joining EJP’s registered student organization.
How to Apply:
Please complete the relevant application form (forms for positions that require clearance will be available again in August 2013). You are welcome to apply to participate in more than one EJP program. We accept applications for positions that do not require clearance (e.g. FACE, EJP Radio) on a rolling basis.
